Age-differentiated Adaption of the Human-Computer-Interface

Background An important issue of the demographic change in e.g. the German population is the maintenance and promotion of the employability of aging workforces. However, there are hardly any suitable concepts or usable tools available to realize this goal. Possible approaches should push the individual strengths of the aging workers to the foreground and intercept the physical and cognitive losses in ability that occur with an increase in age. Computer systems are currently one of the most significant work tools. However, these tools are substantial barriers for older people. Today's common demands for individualization capable humancomputer-interfaces for the support of the user according to his or her individual physical and cognitive abilities are usually not met. This results from the inability of users to define their requirements for individualization or to carry out these individualizations themselves if the software offers such functionality. In this respect, the problems of aging workers are also not solved through such userinitiated individualizations.
